Top questions asked by my clients ...

Why do I need a website?
In this information age, without a presence on the Web, your business or organization is virtually invisible. The web has been become a critical information source for the vast majority of consumers. If you have a business or organization, you must be on the Web.

What do I need to get a website started?
You will need a domain name. Domain names are registered for 1 or more years and come with an annual fee. You can then have domain specific email setup, such as bob@yourdomain.com, to make your business even more professional. You will also need to have web hosting. Hosting is space on a server where your website files reside. When someone uses your domain name, it reads the files placed in this server. Hosting is purchased for 1 or more years and come with an annual fee.

How long will it take to build my web site?
This depends upon the requirements of your site, construction can take anywhere from as little as a few days to several weeks.

How much will my web site cost?
The cost of your website will be directly proportional to it's complexity. A relatively simple site will cost much less than one with advanced functionality. You will always be given a estimate of costs before any project is started. I make sure every aspect of my clients' web needs are taken care of including setting up professional looking email, providing regular statistics on web traffic, optimizing
for search engines, securing domains and web hosting. I even take and process many of the photos used on my clients' sites.

There a many domain name registrars, some reputable and some not. To purchase or more accurately rent a domain name you must search the database of all current registered names and when you find a name that you want and that is available you must engage a domain registrar to secure it for you.

A hosting service allows a third party to store information on the Internet. Information that is stored allows your website to be displayed on the Internet. Most hosting sites have a fee associated for storage of files. This fee is usually purchased on a yearly bases. The hosting package you will need will depend on what your website requirements are.

Does a web site replace other advertising?
No, a website is another tool used to advertise your company. Content of the site determines your ranking on search engines and how fast your customer can find you on the Internet.

Are all websites created equal?
No. An effective website is a combination of what your visitor sees and critical technical components behind the scenes. The visitor must have a rewarding experience plus the technology upon which the site is built must be designed to keep the site running and easy to update and maintain.
